Designed by architect Julia Morgan from 1919 until 1947, the estate formally known as La Cuesta Encantada, is located along the central coast of San Simeon, California.
Hearst Castle joined the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1972 and became a United States National Historic Landmark on May 11, 1976.
